About me... The long version!

So, let’s start again! I am Dr. Shamiso Christine Madzivire. Even though I grew up with a father who values and enjoys education (he is an educator himself) I never guessed that one day I too would desire to be on the other end of teaching. Being the one creating and disseminating knowledge, however, I have discovered this is not only a passion of mine but is in fact what I believe to be a large part of my calling – to touch and change lives. Yes, this sounds very broad but it all comes down to a small area of influence… The family.

As I progressed through my tertiary education I found my passion for serving and nurturing in various ways such as fundraising and youth empowerment initiatives sifting into my academic work and manifesting itself in the desire to explore and understand the lives of various groups of young people along with the struggles they face. Bring in my God-given drive to love others and transform lives and you get a woman who not only wants to understand the struggles faced by people but also wants to find a way of helping.

Through my research and life experiences I have found that there is one constant that can often make a big difference – love. The type of love we would hope can be found in family structures. Sadly in many cases this structure is broken or simply non-existent, but I believe as the mothers, fathers, aunts, uncles and grandparents of tomorrow we can change this. As such, my dreams are those of changing the way in which young people “do” relationships, marriage and life in general. I hope to achieve this by mentoring young people in the area of relationships, living a purpose driven life and generally doing life with God to bring about meaningful and lasting change in their lives. Where loving families do not exist, I long to step up and to encourage others to do the same by extending love and kindness to those in need. These things I hope to do with the help of my blog.

As a part of my blogging I hope to include:

  • Podcasts (which has been a dream of mine for years now).

  • Posts on getting my feet into the mentoring game.

  • Updates on philanthropic projects.

  • The challenges and joys of trying to figure out life as a Christian.

  • My entrepreneurial journey.

  • and generally how I’ll go about trying to nurture all these different parts of myself!

This blog will serve not only as a “journal” to track my progress towards achieving my dreams but will also hopefully serve as a form of blueprint (what to or not to do!) or inspiration for those who may also have big dreams but have no idea where to begin. If I can do it then anyone can!

Walk this journey with me and maybe you too can get started on living a purpose driven life. It’s never too late.

Signed-

Dr S.
