1, 2 Step...

I have spoken to so many people in the last two weeks who are big dreamers. These people have monumental visions in their hearts but just haven't gotten around to getting started on these. It seems like the first few steps are the hardest for everyone! Just like me, these people question themselves, their suitability and their preparedness for the long road ahead. Who am I to think I can accomplish great dreams? Who am I to think I can become a global influence? Who am I to think I can help change the world young people as well as future generations will live in? Who am I to think I can bring back people to "the good old days" where people were more respectful, more loving, more mindful of the word and less violent? Who am I to think I can be an expert on the long list of areas I have tucked away in my heart? These are my questions. The answer - I am a woman on a mission. This past week I've received a lot of encouragement from a fellow human being who was once too just "a man with a God given dream". I have spent time reading the book of Nehemiah and marveled at the fact that this man, a simple cup bearer ended up leading the rebuilding of the wall around Jerusalem even with many opposers and naysayers trying to distract him, scare him and discourage him with their negativity and unbelief. I'd like to believe at some point he too asked the question "who am I to take on such a task?" and yet he boldly got on with it, assured that he would succeed because his was a God given dream he was working on. His calling! My goal is to be like Nehemiah, take it one step at a time, block out the negativity and trust in the God who placed these dreams in my heart. Only you can truly get in the way of what God has placed in your heart to accomplish. Do not let the idea of the size of the finished wall get in the way of you starting your journey. I have done that for long enough but here we are, one step at a time, working on what I hope will be very high walls in the future. I am not always 100% of which brick to grab a hold of or how exactly I am to go about this great task, but what I have resolved is to getting moving. Sometimes this is what it takes to get a clearer picture of the plan. I challange you to ask yourself these questions: What does your wall look like? When are you going to start building? What are the distractions you need to ignore? What do the first steps look like? If you're keen to bounce off your ideas, to have a little rant, get some encouragement or even share what you've done to get started on your "wall" do leave a comment or send me a message! Here are my first few steps: Entrepreneurship - My business partner and I are in the process of setting up our business page in preparation for our official launch of SKy Events in February Mentoring/influence - I got myself a mentor who is helping me position myself to in term mentor high school and university students in Gweru. Secondly there's this blog! Writing/research - I'm currently working on a book chapter for a book on Everyday lives of Zimbabweans.

She looked at the rubble around her. As if awakening from a daze she realised she had been standing in the destruction for weeks. But on...
