Who am I?
This is a question we often ask ourselves at some point in our lives, if not over and over again in different seasons of our lives. Sometimes we end up frustrated as we try and fit ourselves into a neatly packaged box, but life is hardly, if ever neatly packaged and neither are humans. We are complex creatures with many passions, desires, and even self sabotaging tendencies that fight against the very passions and desires that drive us. We procrastinate, we are fearful, ill-equipped, disorganised and sometimes just plain lazy! We sit on our God given dreams and talents, living a mediocre life when we could be doing something meaningful. To some extent this has been me for the majority of my life, sitting around half-heartedly engaging in my passions, waiting for someone to come along and get the ball rolling for me, waiting to collide with someone who will help me achieve my big and very scary dreams. Not any more!
As we start a new decade I've decided to be more intentional about pursuing my passions and starting on the long long list of things I want to do/achieve. To use my God given gifts and talents to their fullest, to chase after my God given passions and dreams, to leave a mark on the world. The end goal? For people to one day look back and answer the question "who was she?" not just with the usual "sister, friend, daughter, teacher" but with a response that is more meaningful, with a response that shows that indeed through the work of God in me I left a mark on the hearts of many and His name on their lips.
This blog is going to be where I document life's experiences as I strive to become the woman I would like to be, the woman who fulfills her dreams and lives her passions.
Anyone who who knows me knows I don't place rose coloured glasses on things, I will present things as they are. The good and the bad, the challenges and the achievements. My hope is that somewhere along the line I can encourage other young people to take a good look at themselves, discover their calling and get going!
And so, one day, when someone asks who was she. They can respond, she was Shamiso, a lover of Christ, a lover of people, an educator, an influencer, a mother to many, a philanthropist, an entrepreneur. In short, an inspiration.
